Hey all,
Its that time of year again! Racing in the PNW has started at Emerald Downs! Opening day was on 5/4/2024 and of COURSE we were there! What a great day!
With the return of racing of course is the return of the Emerald Racing Club. We were lucky enough that our assistant trainer from the last two years was happy to take on the club, with our head trainer taking a position in California. As of right now we have two WONDERFUL boys running for us!
The first is Sir Looking Glass who is a 2021 bay gelding by Midnight Lute out of Victoria’s Hope (Run Away and Hide). Glass was foaled in Kentucky and was sold as a yearling at the Keenland January 2022 Sale as a yearling for $36k. He was claimed one other time before being claimed on April 9th by the ERC trainer at Turf Paradise for $8500. Glass had 7 starts prior to coming to ERC with 2 seconds and a 3rd. Since being with ERC, Glass has started two more times and has brought us a third and a second place finish. Glass is a kind youngster with a soft eye and a big heart. He’s got amazing resilience.

Our second horse for ERC this year is Warrens Candy Man. You may notice a similarity in name to last years mare Warren’s Memorable; they both have the same breeder who almost always includes “Warren” in the name. Warren’s Candy Man is a 2018 chestnut gelding by Clubhouse Ride out of Warren’s Veneda by Affirmative. Warren was never sold at public auction and was claimed on April 18th at Turf Paradise by the ERC trainer for $8500. He has ran 36 times with 2 firsts, 4 seconds and 5 thirds. He has yet to put in a performance for ERC, but is entered to run on June 8th. This boy is SO SNUGGLY and loves to come to the front of his stall for pets an snuggles when we come by.

We are so excited to watch both boys run this year! If you ever want to come out and join us, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
Happy Riding and Racing Season,
A
