There has been a lot of thought going into this change.
Two years ago when I started this blog, it was just Bacardi and I. Just a 28 y/o adult amateur brining along her very first horse and OTTB. I have been aspiring to be an eventer going on 4 years now. Ever since I started taking lessons again shortly after my divorce in 2017.
But since then, life has evolved. I met my boyfriend, he fell in love with the TBs just like me. We got Ruffi. We started going to the races. We started talking about co-owning a racehorse. We started talking about breeding someday.
The reality is, both of my horses are not eventers. Will we buy into a syndicate or co-own? Thats a plan for the next couple years. Will we maybe have a small breeding operation some day? Its a dream but not anywhere close to a reality.
What I do know is that this blog has become about more than just “racehorse to eventer”. Its become about the passion for TBs on the track and off. From conception to their final days (which thankfully haven’t come for our kids yet). So going forward from today, we shall be known as Winter Dance Thoroughbreds. This covers us now, and can cover us on the some day maybe of owning horses on the track and breeding horses for the track.
We believe in this industry. We believe in the breeders, the sales preppers, the bloodstock agents, the trainers, the grooms, the owners, the bettors, the investors, the retirement homes and those who give these magnificent athletes second careers.
Love the breed. Love the ride.
